Shakespeare Globe Theatre is a reconstruction of the Globe Theatre where William Shakespeare wrote and staged his plays located in the London Borough of Southwark, on the south bank of the River Thames. It was originally built in 1599 by Shakespeare’s playing company, the Lord Chamberlain’s Men, on land owned by Thomas Brend and inherited by his son, Nicholas Brend, and grandson Sir Matthew Brend.  It was later destroyed by fire on June 29, 1613.

The reconstructed Globe Theater came to existence in 1997. It was rebuilt in the original style. It has a total seating capacity of 873. The theater has seen the performance of many great Shakespeare’s classics including Hamlet, Twelfth Night, Othello, All’s Well That Ends Well, and Measure for Measure, King Lear, Macbeth, Antony and Cleopatra, Coriolanus, Pericles, and The Winter’s Tale.
